NEW! Machine Learning for Economics and Business

Currently, I am a statistical analyst at the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

After obtaining my Ph.D. in Economics from Kansas State University in 2012, I started my career in academia, and have held full-time faculty positions at Colgate University (2012-2015), Sam Houston State University (2015-2020), and University of Nebraska at Omaha (2021-2022).

In summer of 2022, I joined Zeenk, a now-defunct AdTech startup, as a senior data scientist.

A Versatile Data Expert with over a decade of experience, I bring a flexible skill set that extends beyond traditional data science roles. My cross-training in microeconomic theory and microeconometrics is complemented by a strong foundation in modern AI and data science. In my most recent roles, I showcased excellence in cross-functional collaborations and communication, navigating and contributing effectively to various domains and leveraging a quick-learning attitude to drive success in dynamic environments. Fueled by a passion for learning and an appetite for challenges, I am also an enthusiastic data evangelist, advocating for the transformative power of data-driven decision-making. I have started to write a book titled “Machine Learning for Economics and Business,” accessible at https://datahurdler.github.io/Econ-ML-Book/.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing music, and making ceramic ocarinas.
